Ross, Jeff, & Lorene Johnson
In 1986 the Johnsons decided to start and operate a mill and feed store. We purchased a used hammer mill (a major piece of equipment that’s needed to grind grains into livestock feed), built a building on a couple acres of Ross’s land, moved in the hammer mill, and went at it. Three generations work side by side to keep this place going. The key players are Ross, who’s the head of the family and is referred to as the “head honcho”; his wife Lorene; their son Jeff; Jeff’s wife Donna; and Jeff and Donna’s sons Justin and Bradley. Although Ross and Lorene’s daughter, Tina and her family live miles away from Taylorsville; Tina, and her husband, Hugh, along with their children, Thomas and Amy, help out when needed. Ross & Lorene are now semi-retired, but you may find Ross on the tow motor hauling feed and other products from our delivery trucks to the warehouse and Lorene busy sweeping and keeping the store clean. Other times, they just drop by to keep us all “in-line”.
